Redline is a Chrome extension that highlights loaded or biased wording in Persian-language news articles and suggests neutral alternatives. This page explains what data it accesses, what it does with it, and what it doesn't do.

What Redline accesses

The text content of the webpage you are actively viewing — but only for tabs where you've turned Redline on.
A Gemini API key that you provide yourself, if you choose to use the deeper AI review.

Redline does not access your browsing history, other tabs, bookmarks, passwords, or any data outside the current page's visible text.

What happens to that data

Phase 1 (instant dictionary pass) runs entirely inside your browser. It never makes a network request and no data leaves your device.

Phase 2 (AI review) only runs if you've entered a Gemini API key. When it runs, the extracted text of the current article is sent directly from your browser to Google's Gemini API, using your own key. This request does not pass through, and is never seen or stored by, Redline's developer.

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What Redline stores

Your Gemini API key, if you provide one.
Whether Redline is currently turned on.

Both are stored locally using Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local), stay on your device, and are never transmitted to Redline's developer. Uninstalling the extension removes this data.

What Redline does not do

Does not collect analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
Does not sell, rent, or share data with third parties.
Does not use your data for advertising.
Does not execute remotely hosted code — all extension logic ships in the reviewed package.

Third-party processing

When you use Phase 2, article text is processed by Google's Gemini API, subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Redline has no control over, and does not receive, any data from that processing beyond the analysis result returned to your own browser.

Your control

Redline does nothing until you turn it on. You can clear your stored API key at any time from the extension popup, and disable Redline entirely from chrome://extensions.

Changes to this policy

If Redline's data practices change, this page will be updated and the change noted in the project's release notes.
