# Privacy policy — Navāyab

_Last updated: 24 July 2026_

Navāyab is a music guessing game. This policy covers what it stores and what, if anything, leaves your device.

## What is stored on your device

The extension keeps the following in your browser's local storage:

- The display name you choose for the leaderboard
- Your language preference (English or Persian)
- Your track library and high scores, when running in local mode
- A cached copy of the shared track library, when running in Firebase mode, so the game opens without waiting on the network

You can erase all of it at any time by removing the extension, or from `chrome://extensions` → Navāyab → **Site data**.

## What leaves your device

**In local mode — the default — nothing does.** There is no account and no server. The only network requests are to the audio streams whose URLs you added yourself, made to play them.

**In Firebase mode**, if the person who configured your copy pointed it at a Firebase project, the following is sent to Google Firebase:

- An anonymous identifier, generated by Firebase. It is not linked to a Google account, an email address, or any credential.
- The display name you typed
- Your score, round count, correct answers, and longest streak

This exists to make the shared leaderboard work. Nothing else is transmitted.

## What is never collected

No browsing history. No page content. No behaviour on other sites. No location. No contact details. No advertising or analytics identifiers. The extension has no ability to read the pages you visit — it runs only in its own tab and injects no content scripts.

## Audio streams

Playing a track means requesting it from whichever server hosts it. Those servers see the request, and their own privacy practices apply, exactly as if you had opened the stream in a browser tab. Navāyab does not add tracking to those requests, and it does not send them anywhere else.

## Third parties

Google Firebase, and only when Firebase mode is configured. Google's handling of that data is covered by the [Firebase privacy documentation](https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy). No advertising networks, no analytics services, no data brokers. Nothing is sold or shared.

## Children

The game collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. The display name is a freely chosen nickname and should not be a real name.

## Your control

Removing the extension deletes everything held locally. If you have a leaderboard entry in Firebase mode and want it gone, contact whoever operates that deployment; the anonymous ID in question is shown on the extension's options page.

## Changes

Any material change will be reflected here with a new date, and in the extension's release notes.
