The whole apparatus

a divination manual three thousand years old, done properly

The casting ritual

Three bronze coins flip six times. Each throw draws one line of your hexagram onto the screen, from the bottom up — as the ritual prescribes. Tap to hurry the coins.

Changing lines

Old yin (6) and old yang (9) glow bronze, are read by their position — from the beginning to the culmination — and resolve into a second, transformed hexagram.

Coin & yarrow odds

Switch between the three-coin probabilities and the classical yarrow-stalk odds, which weight the lines the way the traditional fifty-stalk ceremony does.

The complete Book

All 64 hexagrams in the King Wen sequence, with Chinese names, pinyin, trigram composition, and concise original readings of the Judgment and the Image.

A casting record

Your last twenty consultations — hexagrams, transformations, and the questions you held in mind — kept on your device and nowhere else.

Private by design

No network requests, no analytics, no accounts, no remote code. Everything runs offline inside the popup. Open the source and see for yourself.

How a cast works

six throws, four possible lines

Heads counts 3, tails counts 2 — three coins sum to 6, 7, 8 or 9. Old lines are “changing”: they flip into their opposite, producing a second hexagram read alongside the first.
